I have two Golden Retrievers whom I trained from when they were puppies. With help from a trainer from NEADS I trained my first dog, Bailey, for obedience. I also trained him for agility when he was about one year old. I got my second dog, Trevor, two years after Bailey and he was my "project dog." I trained him from the start without any help using both Cesar Milan's methods and mine to make him the "calm, submissive" dog that he is today. Both of my dogs excel in agility and can both outrun the Border Collies that dominate the sport. Trevor can jump up to 3'4", 16 inches higher than regulation height and Bailey can jump 2', regulation height.
I have had only one experience training a horse but I have been riding for ten years, and I trained a very green Welsh Cob/Pony named Remy. When he came to me he was crazy and very defiant. He was terrified of the trailer and would not walk on the road because he was afraid of the cars. Through literally sweat, blood, and tears he became the pony that he should have been when I got him. After six months he did not rear or buck anymore and was not afraid to go in the trailer. He never did get over his fear of the road but the improvements he made far outweighed this setback.
